Teaching and training

The surgery is a teaching practice, serving as a hub for healthcare professional teaching and training. We host placements for doctors who are on a training scheme to become a GP, undergraduate medical students and occasionally take on work experience students planning a career in medicine. We also do similar for nurses and pharmacists as well.

All of this contributes to creating and sustaining the NHS clinical workforce and keeps our own staff up to date with the latest developments in their clinical area as they pass on their expertise to others. All of these team members work as part of our clinical team for the time they are with us, and are bound by the same confidentiality procedures as our permanent GPs and other staff, all staff on joining also sign a written declaration of adherence to confidentiality.

We also encourage our permanent staff to develop and progress their career, often supporting additional aspirations clinically and in administration, management and leadership.
